Look what arrrived in the mail today! Bob Hoskins plays a London gangster, Helen Mirren stars as his wife. Pierce Brosnan also has a small role. Lots of late 70s London scenes and cars, plus it’s probably Hoskins’ best film.

Excellent film, one of the best British gangster films. Also worth noting it was made by George Harrison’s production company Handmade Films.

Yep it is one of my favourites - it can’t be streamed in the US for some reason at the moment, so I had to order it from the UK. I forgot about the George Harrison angle, but that may have something to do with the lack of streaming stateside.

And yes, Helen Mirren :D

I like how Harold Shand was way ahead of the curve on the docklands too...
